About JEEWAG Foundation

JEEWAG Foundation (Justice and Economic Empowerment for Women and Girls) is a non-governmental organization that operates in five districts of Uganda: Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, Buikwe, and Buvuma. We work to promote justice, dignity, and economic empowerment for female sex workers and their communities.

JEEWAG Foundation was founded in 2019 with a mission to address the systemic injustices faced by women and girls in Uganda, particularly female sex workers.

JEEWAG Foundation currently operates in five districts of Uganda:
  • Kampala - The capital city
  • Wakiso - Surrounding Kampala
  • Mukono - Central Uganda
  • Buikwe - Central Uganda
  • Buvuma - An island district
We have a registered membership of 1,200 female sex workers across these districts.
Our Work & Programs

We offer several programs including:
  • Legal Aid & Justice: Free legal assistance and advocacy for women and girls
  • Economic Empowerment: Skills training, microfinance, and business support
  • HIV/AIDS Support: Testing, counseling, and awareness programs
  • Children's Education: Support for children of sex workers
  • Disability Inclusion: Specialized support for sex workers with disabilities

Our target population includes:
  • Female sex workers in their diversity
  • Sex workers who use and inject drugs
  • Partners or clients of sex workers
  • Children of sex workers and their caregivers
  • Sex workers living with HIV
  • Sex workers with disabilities

To date, JEEWAG Foundation has:
  • 1,200+ registered members
  • 500+ women reached through legal aid programs
  • 350+ women empowered through economic programs
  • 800+ people reached through HIV/AIDS programs
  • 200+ children supported through education programs
